    Verdict

It was fast ground when Van Gerwen went close at Beverley last month while Quanah finished runner-up at Hamilton before well beaten in heavy going. Show Palace slips further down the weights and San Juan debuts on the Turf having landed a double at Southwell early in the year. REFUGE has to be forgiven a poor effort at Hamilton last time but has winning form on soft going over the minimum trip and Mick Easterby’s charge may prove the one to side with in this.
