Verdict

Winter Bloom was a very unlucky looser at Windsor last time out and is selected to make amends. The winner of a Redcar maiden last season, this half-sister to the much improved Phoenix Tower can achieve her first win of the season. While winners have failed to emerge from that Windsor contest which the selection contested last time, the second has been placed twice while the third, First Avenue is a horse very much on the upgrade and ran a cracker in the opener on Saturday at Epsom. She would no doubt have beaten those two home at Windsor. Storyland races off a 3lb higher mark after a victory last time at Doncaster. It was a good performance considering the race was run slowly and his rider held him up for a late challenge. However, the form has taken quite a knock with the second being well-beaten in two outings since. That said, Storyland could be value for more that the stated winning margin. Spell Caster would not have been suited by the slow pace on his seasonal debut at Sandown. It is probably best to put a line through that run and he is likely to be thereabouts. Sahaadi needs to learn to settle if she is to score again. She gave a rider a torrid time in the early stages of her seasonal debut and after loosing her position she stayed on again in the closing stages. If she settles she could give value seekers a big run. Casilda won a weak Goodwood maiden last time, where My Aunt Fanny was just behind in third. The second was not disgraced though last week in a Bath maiden but it would be surprising if either of those two were to prove good enough. Winter Bloom can make amends today for that unlucky Windsor loss and land it for the Henry Cecil yard.
