Verdict
Alumni News and Wizard of Edge both showed ability as juveniles and make their belated return to action here but may just need the outing so we prefer to side with Mualafah. The selection ran with credit on her debut when third of sixth behind Prince Holing at Salisbury and lost no caste in defeat when filling the same position behind the well backed Bury St Edmunds at Newbury subsequently. With further improvement to come, she looks the one they all have to beat. Petrosa drops back in trip having seemingly failed to stay 1m2f last time and has to be respected along with the Peter Harris-trained Presto Tempo, who is entitled to come on for his debut effort at Pontefract earlier this month. Alumni News was unlucky to come up against the useful Shield on his only start as a two-year-old on the Polytrack at Lingfield. It will be interesting to see how John Gosden's colt performs on turf for the first time but, along with Toby Balding's Wizard of Edge, the lack of a recent run may count against him. All in all the safest option should be Mualafah, who gets the vote.
