Verdict
Elmustanser may be up to making a winning debut over the likes of Haadef, Midshipman Easy, Maid To Treasure and Shooting Lodge. It is always folly to discount any Godolphin newcomers, and with Frankie Dettori on board, Elmustanser will be a popular choice. The son of Machiavellian is a full brother to Almutawakel, and although he did not see the racecourse as a juvenile, has had plenty of work at Nad Al Sheba in company with the likes of Destination Dubai and Sussex. Related to White Muzzle on the dam's side, he should make up into a useful middle-distance sort in time. Haadef shaped well when staying on for third behind Remaadd on his Newbury bow and is also bred to stay, while today's trip is about as far as Midshipman Easy can manage, but he has the edge on experience. Maid To Treasure kept on for pressure when second on her Newmarket introduction last November and is one to watch in handicaps this summer, and Shooting Lodge, who also returns to the fray, can only improve this term on her sole outing at Warwick last September. Although Haadef will be a big danger, we return to Elmustanser to make an immediate impact for the boys in blue.
