Verdict
Alpaga Le Jomage has run some decent races in defeat for trainer Brian Meehan, and has the assistance of Frankie Dettori, but the two-year-old may find this coming too soon after his run in the National stakes on Monday and preference is for Spirit of France, who gets the vote over Extra Mark. The last mentioned has found one too good in each of his two starts so far, latterly when chasing home Rosein on the Fibresand at Southwell. Spirit Of France filled the same position on his debut. That was under testing conditions at Hamilton, so the ground should hold no fears for Mark Johnston's colt, and, with the stable's juveniles normally finding improvement with racing, he looks worth a bet. Paul Cole's Courageously was not disgraced behind the Royal Ascot bound Blue Dakota on his Windsor debut and may do better now, while of the newcomers Richard Hannon's Montjeu colt Kings Quay is likely to need further and a bigger threat may come from the Terry Mills-trained Pitch Up. However, those with form set a decent standard and Spirit Of France appeals most of them.
