In depth

Verdict

Donna Veloce has only won a maiden so far though did so in impressive style here on her debut and recorded a high speed figure in the process. But she steps up in trip for this and is taking on three Grade 1 trial winners today. Of those, Bast represents Bob Baffert’s powerful yard and beat the re-opposing Comical and K P Dreamin to land the Chandelier Stakes over course and distance while Wicked Whisper won the Frizette at Belmont and is another to consider on that form. But BRITISH IDIOM (NAP) produced an impressive turn of foot round the two turns at Keeneland to beat Perfect Alibi by over six lengths in the Alcibiades Stakes and Brad Cox’ filly may prove the one to side with on that evidence. Lazy Daisy was beaten by Bast before winning a Grade 2 at Churchill Downs and Two Sixty is upped in class.
