In depth
Verdict
Quantity rather than quality is the order of the day in the opener. Ferdy Murphy is regularly amongst the winners here and Seasquill is his representative. He ran a reasonable race in similar conditions at Carlisle before blowing up on debut. He has disappointed on better ground since but this race wont take a lot of winning and he is at least open to some improvement. Begsy's Bullet produced a 33/1 shock at the track three weeks ago. Ginger McCain's mare will be dropping back half-a-mile in trip today and on all previous evidence, she may find this trip to be on the sharp side. With doubts a plenty about the others, Mr Micky warrants respect. He is a winner on the surface although he was a tad disappointing at Leicester last time out. Tim Easterby's charge did finish infront of Initative on a recent run at Wetherby but with James Hetherton's horse being a course-and-distance specialist, we'll make him our selection in today's contest. Stormy Beech is the one-to-watch in the market.
