Verdict
As with most the races on the card this is a tough one to call and there are dangers aplenty to the selection, Only Words. However, the seven-year-old has been banging on the door in similar company of late and is given a slender vote of confidence over Mr Lear, Sunnyside Royale and Untidy Daughter, who are all capable of making this a real test for our main hope. Reno, with James Davies taking 3lb off her back, appeals the most out of the remainder and is worth monitoring for signs of support. However, as Sedgefield is a notoriously strong market, it will not be surprising to see money also come for Only Words and he makes the more appeal after a series of good efforts in defeat since he coasted to victory in a warm handicap at Wetherby at the start of last month. This course holds no fears for the Alan Lockwood-trained gelding and he is fancied to overcome his present mark despite the handicapper's determination to keep him on a short lead. Mr Lear is fancied to present the biggest threat out of the rest as he is still open to plenty of improvement. However, that is unlikely to escape the attention of many and Only Words edges it for us at the likely prices.
