In depth
Verdict
Sandabar bids to step up on his most recent effort and is selected over Allegedly Red and Northern Echo in a race that should not take a great deal of winning. Most of these can be safely discounted, and although now aged 11, Sandabar has leading claims judged on his second to Prize Ring here at Sedgefield six days ago. He has not won since landing a conditionals event over the course and distance three years ago, but his recent effort is better than most here have shown of late. Allegedly Red is six years younger and will probably appreciate the drop back in trip after failing to last out at Wetherby in what was a stronger race on paper than this. Ann Duffield's charge should make a bold bid for a place at least, while Northern Echo has less weight than most but is still looking for his first career win, even at this level. With Graham Lee on board, Sandabar will carry plenty of confidence and gets the vote.
