        Verdict

        A much stronger than usual claimer. Top-rated Pearl Castle hasn't won since 2014 but has been racing in Class 2 handicaps and this is a big drop in grade. Throckley has the more recent form on the surface having won a Class 5 handicap in November and beating Brigadoon comfortably enough in a claimer last month. Restive won two minor handicaps over the track and trip before stepping up a grade and being well beaten on his hat-trick attempt. Jacbequick, who won a Class 3 handicap at York in the summer, has been racing over hurdles though not very successfully. GABRIAL'S STAR would prefer further having won a similar race over 1m6f here last time but he's in at a realistic claiming price and looks the one to beat.
