In depth
Verdict
Cross The Highman can benefit from the assistance of Tony McCoy to land the seller, with Maldoun, Blue Streak and Medallist others expected to play a part. The selection has not been seen since finishing a disappointing fourth in maiden hurdle company at Sligo last August, but the former bumper winner is sure to have been well galloped for his first outing on these shores, and would not have to be anything special to prevail. McCoy's ex-guv'nor Martin Pipe saddles Maldoun who was ridden to victory in a non-seller at Kelso last May. A first-time visor may aid his cause, while Blue Streak also benefited from the champion's expertise in the plate when scoring at Plumpton in October. Gary Moore's challenger is fit from the Flat and is another to consider, but Medallist was a law unto himself at Market Rasen last time, and although he can boast winning form over hurdles, is passed over. We return to Cross The Highman as the answer.
