        Verdict

        Lascelles and Basalt set the standard on official ratings and whilst that is hardly that exciting, the winner should still come from one of the two, with the pin coming down on Lascelles. Jamie Osbourne doesn't send many out at this time of year but his cheap son of Halling ran a fair race in defeat last time out given the fact than he may have needed the run. He was a bit short of room as well on that occasion and with the winner scoring since, that form looks pretty solid. Basalt returns from a 316 day absence and this Ballydoyle cast-off needs a lot of respect in a race this weak for new trainer Tim Pitt. Ella needs a market check, along with Mondial Jack who comes here fresh on the back of his trainer's monster gamble midweek. Red Fame and Rambo Honours are two more who might sneak into a place, however in this weak race it is Lascelles who receives the narrow nomination.
