Kumakawa gained a deserved victory last time and can follow up today at the expense of Friends Hope and Abbeygate. Dean Ivory's seven-year-old appreciated the strong pace when easily accounting for Emperor Cat in a banded race over course and distance last time. This is a slight step up in class, but against mainly out of form opponents he looks worth a chance. Friends Hope is one that is in good heart at present having beaten Endless Peace in a Wolverhampton handicap last time. She does have to give weight away all round but should still be capable of making the frame. Abbeygate should also figure in the finish, he was successful over the mile trip here last month and will not be inconvenienced by this drop in distance. Dial Square is looking a bit erratic but should do best of the remainder, but Kumakawa looks the pick of the weights and gets the vote
