Verdict
A weak opening event may see Interstice land the spoils over Delta Force, Fight The Feeling, Citrus Magic and Mr Smithers Jones. This class G handicap, confined to amateur riders, should take little winning, and Interstice, who was gambled on last time, will be fancied to make amends, especially if the market speaks in his favour. Three times successful here at Southwell in the past, he tends to do well at this time of the year, and is coming back down the weights again to a favourable mark. Delta Force, having scored over two miles here, ran very well when touched off over shorter last time, and over the mile and a half, is another for the short-list. Fight The Feeling was fourth to the gambled-on Sendintank at Wolverhampton last time and will be prominent for a while, and Mr Smithers Jones is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Stricken with a virus last year, he began making up for lost time when landing a maiden here 10 days ago, and although having to contend with a drop in trip, may be on the upgrade. Michaels Dream ran disappointingly at Lingfield on Tuesday and does not make as much appeal as Citrus Magic who lost his maiden tag in style at Wolverhampton, galloping his rivals into the ground. For the winner we return to Interstice.
