          Verdict

          The feature race on the card may go to Palawan, ahead of a whole host of possibles including Bond Playboy, Compton Banker, Time N Time Again, Far Note and Hurricane Coast. The latter in particular has been in fine form for Paul Blockley and is sure to give his new connections plenty of fun. He is tough and will not be overawed by the better quality of opposition that he meets here. However, Palawan nearly did us a favour last time when coming back from a near three-month absence to go down by a head to Frascati at odds of 10/1, and we must stay loyal to Andrew Balding's nine-year-old, especially as his apprentice takes off a valuable seven pounds. There are no end of dangers though, including Bond Playboy who has been working well since his latest outing. That came at Wolverhampton where he tired inside the final furlong on what was his first run for a month. The drop back in trip will help Bryan Smart's charge who is another to consider. Compton Banker' s trainer always has them fit and ready for the more decent prizes, while Time N Time Again has it to do with Far Note on recent running here on six-pound worse terms. It promises to be fast and furious, but Palawan can prove profitable to follow and gets the vote in a wide-open handicap.
