Verdict
Sabbaag is on a retrieval mission after his unexpected first-time-out defeat six days ago, and in the belief that he will know a bit more now, he is selected again in a weak maiden in which the likes of Alexander Ambition, Casantella and Silver Emperor are suggested for place claims. David Loder is already off the mark since moving to his new stables in Newmarket, and with Johnny Murtagh due to be principal rider this year, is a trainer to follow. However, Jamie Spencer is still set to ride his fair share and will be doubly determined after Sabbaag's odds-on failure at Wolverhampton on his debut over six furlongs last week. The Vodafone Derby entry was caught flat-footed when Rio Branco quickened off a slow pace, having to settle for second, and is sure to have more use made of him here. The extra furlong will not come amiss either, and he should atone. In contrast, Alexander Ambition drops in trip after failing to see out Lingfield's mile and a quarter on his British debut. Placed in Ireland, he is worth a mention for place purposes, as is Casantella who can boast a fair bit of experience, although she is going to be no world-beater. Silver Emperor should be watched in the market, but we have no hesitation in picking Sabbaag to make amends.
