Verdict
A wide open affair on paper gets proceedings under way on the fibresand, with six or seven in with real chances. The likely favourite is Shore Vision, a beaten favourite here when fourth nine days ago in the race won by Penwell Hill, with Windshift in third. Peter Harris's charge races off the same mark so it should be just as close between the trio. Windshift actually ran his best race for some time and can be expected to show more improvement. City Flyer races off a pound lower mark than when second over track and trip on his penultimate start last March, but does have an absence to overcome, unlike Eurolink Artemis who should come on for his second at Wolverhampton, the venue of his sole all-weather victory. He did however shape well on an earlier visit here and is another not to discount. Kumakawa was claimed out of Dean Ivory's yard after landing an apprentice affair over the course and distance a week ago, his fourth win at Southwell. Aided by a visor, he stuck to his task well, and there is no reason to suppose that he will not give another bold showing, with Chris Cogan once again in the plate. He looks a sporting each-way bet in a hard one to call.
