In depth
Verdict
An ordinary looking maiden which should be within the compass of Transit, providing he handles the fibresand well enough. Campaigned largely at a mile and 10 furlongs, the Lion Cavern colt has shaped with promise, being placed on five occasions without getting his nose in front at the line. He also likes to be up with or even make the pace and so he should be clear of any potential trouble back in the field. He comes here fresh after a decent break and at these weights looks to have a good chance of breaking his duck. Mister Sweets could well be a threat, especially with a 7lb claimer on his back. The Nashwan gelding has finished second twice over course and distance and though he still looks to have a bit to find with the selection at these weights, he can again go well and make the frame. Saponi made a very promising debut over course and distance in December before finishing a very close third when dropped back to 7f at Wolverhampton. Being by Indian Ridge, he should be best at this trip and with further improvement expected, he could give the selection most to do. Barry Hills sends out Dancing Key and will be hoping that the filly shows much more prominently than when last of 10 runners in soft ground at Ayr last time. Now she has had a winter break she tackles the all-weather surface for the first time and perhaps the best advice here is to keep an eye on the market for a guide to whether there is any confidence behind her. Others to merit respect are Zero Tolerance, from the top all-weather yard of David Barron and Kohima, who gets in with 8st 1lb for trainer Giles Bravery and should improve.
