In depth
Verdict
Figaro du Rocher can make experience tell against newcomer Aldirous and Penalty Clause, with Kavi and Woodybetheone others to make a note of. Figaro du Rocher has already made his mark, scoring in the French Provinces in June, having just been acquired by Martin Pipe who then saw him run a blinder on his British debut at Market Rasen where he valiantly tried to make all against Blue Venture but was narrowly beaten. Although having to shoulder a penalty here, a similar performance will see him hard to peg back against opposition mostly comprised of hurdling newcomers. Penalty Clause was 14 lengths behind at Market Rasen and it is hard to see him turning the tables. Pat Haslam is the trainer of Blue Venture so should have a line to the chances of Kavi, a selling plater on the Flat but sure to have been schooled well. Woodybetheone was very disappointing on the level for Richard Hannon, but comes from a yard that that knows how to get the best of these sorts over obstacles and he will progress as the season moves on. The market should be closely noted as regards the other debutantes, but even if any are gambled on, they still have it to do to stop Figaro du Rocher from making all.
