Verdict
This could be another one for the the Ruby Walsh-Paul Nicholls partnership with Quid Pro Quo getting the call over Altesse de Sou, Big Bone and Supreme Lover. Much as the selection did not fully live up to his billing last season in bumpers, he showed enough ability to suggest that he should improve with that season under his belt. Today gives him the chance to do just that and we will stick with him, particularly if the market speaks well of him. However, the Martin Pipe-trained French import Altesse de Sou rates a big danger. Already a winner at Auteuil, he will have been well primed for his British debut and looks set to go well. Big Bone (also entered at Stratford) landed a Newcastle bumper on soft going on his final start last year and, much as that was not a strong heat, he has the size to do well over obstacles. Supreme Lover hails from a good stable and, in a modest race overall, has to be considered, but, once again, Quid Pro Quo just gets the vote over Altesse de Sou, but keep an eye on the betting.
