In depth
Verdict
Sharp Hat appears to have plenty in his favour and is taken to gain a richly deserved success at the main expense of Parkside Pursuit, Brigadore and Mufreh. David Chapman's charge is reaching the veteran stage of his racing career but still retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game and has proved a model of consistency this term. The son of Shavian has won on four occasions this year and has put together a string of placed efforts recently to suggest that he remains in good heart. The nine-year-old put up a particularly eye-catching performance last time when finishing strongly to finish second in a similar event over five furlongs at Catterick and the extra furlong should be in his favour. Parkside Pursuit shaped well in defeat off this mark at Newmarket last time and is just 5lb higher than a comfortable Salisbury success last month so rates a big danger. Brigadore had the selection a length behind when scoring at Ayr recently but is far from certain to confirm the form on the revised ratings while Mufreh has claims on the pick of his all-weather form but was well below his best on his latest turf run and now has something to prove so Sharp Hat looks the answer from a favourable draw.
