In depth

Verdict

Taranaki is something of a seven-furlong specialist as he demonstrated when making a winning seasonal reappearance at Folkestone and followed up with a smooth success in a useful handicap company at Kempton. Although raised a further 5lb for his latest win, Peter Cundell's charge is still well treated on his best previous form and can complete the hat-trick. Sir Effendi shaped well on his return in a race that is working out well and shouldn't be far away but both Kirkby's Treasure and Supreme Salutation may be at a disadvantage from a high draw.
