Verdict
Ghannam should prove hard to beat in just an ordinary contest. Marcus Tregoning's charge shaped encouragingly on all three starts in maiden company, particularly when a close runner-up to Hiddendale at Newmarket in October, and a reproduction should suffice at this level. Contract was a well backed favourite on his debut in a similar event at Ripon last month and is better than the bare form suggests as he suffered little luck in running but will need to improve significantly to upset the selection and a bigger threat could well be War Valor who has been catching the eye of workwatchers on the Newmarket gallops of late.
