        Verdict

        A modest bunch on view and we will take a chance with newcomer Mermaid's Cry at the expense of the exposed pairing of Turtle Magic and Joshar. Jeremy Glover's team look to be just about hitting form at present and this close relation to Red China could be the answer to what looks to be a tricky race. Her chances can only be enhanced by the booking of today's apprentice. Turtle Magic and Joshar have met before at Newcastle when finishing behind Ronnie's Lad in a claimer. The former latter fared the better of the pairing and appears to have a better draw this evening. Bowland Bride has been well beaten on four starts to date. Emma's Venture ran very green in a similar contest at Beverley and is stepped up in trip. The booking of Darley is positive although she doesn't appear to have gone on from her second to Little Biscuit earlier in the season. Diction is related to staying types. Mermaid's Cry gets the vote in a race not to have the housekeeping money on.
