      Verdict

      MALHOOB is having a first run on Turf but looks the one to be on ahead of fellow Newmarket raider Perfect Balance. Roger Varian’s colt has been showing progressive form at Newcastle and there is enough in his pedigree to suggest he’ll handle the switch of surface. The Godolphin entry ran green on debut at Lingfield last year and should do better this season. Life On The Rocks, fourth at Redcar on debut, should confirm that form with Clansman and also has more scope than Socks Off.
