In depth

Verdict

Joe Murphy's horses are in superb form and he's booked Jamie Codd for Thurles winner John Cannon, who then ran well over hurdles before reverting to a bumper at Punchestown. KOTTAYAM, by Declaration Of War out of a Group 2 winner, was always likely to have more pace than his rivals at Kilbeggan and came home 19 lengths clear on good going. Providing the ground doesn't turn heavy, he should follow up. The Gossiper was sent to Aintree for a Grade 2 bumper after scoring easily at Wexford but finished last, which obviously wasn't his form - expect him to bounce back. Nancy Wyse led from halfway and battled on strongly to score over 2m2f here a fortnight ago but this looks a stiffer test.
