In depth

Verdict

Staged Engagement was a decisive winner here last month despite looking far from the finished article and is of definite interest making his hurdling bow. The Irish raider looks progressive but LION ROUGE receives 3lb and has shown himself more than capable of landing a small novice or maiden hurdle. Stuart Edmunds' charge appreciated the move up to 2m4f last time when narrowly defeated by Holryale and can go one better now under similar forecast conditions. Dory ran nicely on a first start for Ian Williams and commands respect along with Cape Banjo, a dual winner on the all-weather, who now makes his hurdling debut.
