In depth

Verdict

Unexposed chaser Harapour gets the nod over Dungarvans Choice, Meggie's Beau and Beau Supreme, who all arrive here in good heart. The last named especially the eye at the forecast prices, as he has not been out of the frame in any of his five previous outings over fences. James Davies renews the partnership and they can again go well for each-way players. Meggie's Beau has also been in great heart of late and has to be respected after proving himself as a capable novice earlier this term. However, this is a stiff test for a handicap debut and he now has a little more to find. Dungarvans Choice has some course experience to draw from and was far from disgraced in a Grade 2 at Lingfield last month. However, he would appear to need more cut in the ground to be seen at his best and could be vulnerable today. Therefore, we go with Harapour, who has more scope for improvement over the trip than the rest and looks primed to run another big race. As a horse that needs his mind making up for him, Ruby Walsh is the ideal partner for the top weight. The Irishman excels when he is challenged with his mounts and his horsemanship can win the day again here.
