In depth
Verdict
Plenty to consider in this race and our far-from-confident selection is Chivite. Running through the field. The lightly raced Tip Kash has a squeak on the best of his overall modest form. The extravagantly-named Trainedbythebest is also entitled to attract support. Course winner Jaybeedee looked promising in 2002 and his trainer certainly knows how to ready them after an absence. Chivite ran down the field at Cheltenham last time but won here from his current mark in July. He has to be seriously considered. Golfagent has also won here and is weighted to run well, but Jonjo O'Neill's lightly-raced The Who Shall has little in the way of form to recommend him. Grizzly Activewear won twice in 2001 but has suffered from injuries and recent runs have not been particularly eyecatching. Saxon Mill won at a big price at Market Rasen following a break in December 2002 so that tactic could work again. Jumpty Dumpty looks held by the handicapper at present, a similar comment applying to Tsunami. Dancer Polish won here over two miles as a novice in October 2002 but you are banking on the first-time blinkers working the oracle if placing your hard-earned on him today. General Gossip showed promise in bumpers for Jim Old before his form tailed off. Now with Richard Phillips it will be interesting to see how he goes. Bell Lane Lad has raced only six times but came good last time at Bangor. He could improve again although that winning improvement occurred on faster going than he had previously encountered. Bobbi Rose Red is at the right end of the handicap for a lightly-raced runner but, overall, Martha Reilly would be hard to fancy. Although three pounds out of the weights, Moss Run has winning form in Ireland although, at nine years of age, ought really to find a few too good for him. Most of all, of these we like the look of Chivite.
