Verdict

Meelup is on a roll and can land the finale, with the best of the others possibly proving to be Acuzio, Vermilion Creek and Glasson Lodge. The selection has won three of his last four races, two of them being on Turf, and, despite his six-pound penalty for the most-recent of them, looks to have been found another soft race in which he can be competitive again. He also has the advantage of being a course and distance winner and should run his race today under a good rider. Acuzio is now six pounds better off for the near three lengths he finished behind the selection over course and distance last time and looks set to run his race too, while Barzak can be given a chance if transferring his all-weather form to Turf. Vermilion Creek is actually back on a winning mark now but that success came in 2003, and she wins in her turn. The Job has yet to match his all-weather best on Turf, similar comments applying to Glasson Lodge. They can both, however, be given claims of sorts but, for the winner, we return to Meelup.
