Verdict
The David Evans-trained Strider has claims on the form shown when winning at Chepstow last time over 1m2f but is far from certain to stay this longer trip and preference is for Kernel Dowery, who gets the vote over Smart John. The last mentioned showed his best form for some time on his most recent start and has solid claims on that evidence but is probably better on a softer surface. Top weight Eastborough could probably do with some help from the handicapper and of more interest may be Mark Brisbourne's Turner, who has slipped to fair mark. Great View has claims on the pick of his form but the vote goes to Kernel Dowery. Walter Swinburn's gelding has a handy racing weight, is open to a bit more improvement this term and has ground conditions to suit.
