Verdict

Paddy Brennan was never happy with Poetic Rhythm at Chepstow last month and pulled him up on the final circuit before dismounting. That was less than three weeks ago so question marks remain about the smart staying hurdler. CRUCIAL ROLE is a mud-lover so how he’ll handle today’s conditions is anybody’s guess. However, his dam was a chaser and also stayed well and Dan Skelton’s recent acquisition could be worth an interest in this getting 12lb from Rocky’s Treasure, who has won in small fields at Kelso and Fakenham but is doubly penalised.
