Verdict

Valento should make a bold bid to follow up his last time out success but we prefer MINI MINSTER, with Corkage and Calatagan others to consider. Graham Lee has been aboard our pick on each of her last three starts and the pair gained a deserved victory here last time, having chased been behind a couple of well treated sorts prior to that. She's got an extra two furlongs to travel today but conditions will be ideal and she can go close under a 7lb mandatory penalty. Not that winning this will be easy; Valento was a facile scorer last time and could improve further if learning to settle. Kim Bailey's runner is up 12lbs in the ratings but loves good ground and should continue to give a good account of himself off this revised mark of 120. Corkage took a remote second last time but was fully 17 lengths clear of the third horse, an in-form David Pipe inmate, so it'd be no surprise were he to once again run into a place; his winning efforts have generally come under similar conditions too. Calatagan could well challenge for minor honours too; Malcolm Jefferson's charge is well treated on his efforts over fences and has the ability to win this, but he's not scored since 2007 so caution is advised for win-only players. The booking of Brian Hughes aboard Olifan d'Oudairies catches the eye and he ran well in a decent race at Gowran Park last time. However, whilst that was on good ground his best efforts have been with cut and with that in mind we prefer the claims of Mini Minster.
