In depth
Verdict
A few of these will be better over fences in time, including: Classic Capers, Minster Shadow and Jonny's Kick, who are shortlisted as the leading contenders today. With Minster Shadow getting the nomination as the one to be on for now. Jonny's Kick would be more strongly recommended if he had gained a little bit more experience over timber. However, he can only benefit from this and remains one for the future. Classic Capers is well thought of and his connections seem certain that this trip will not inconvenience him. Even so, he had a very hard race last time out and the extra three furlongs is a step into the unknown for now. Therefore, the proven stayer, Minster Shadows, makes more appeal at this stage of their careers. The Chris Grant-trained five-year-old has a pleasing attitude that will stand him in good stead if this develops into a scrap and, with Richie McGrath back in the plate, he has plenty in favour today.
