        Verdict

        Druids Confederacy can defy a penalty to overcome the challenges of Magical Filed and Doce Vida in this mares' only event. Druids Confederacy won by a distance at Towcester on Boxing Day, after which trainer Charlie Egerton nominated the Crandon Mares' Final at Newbury as her main target. She must therefore be quite highly rated, and is reckoned to be a potentially useful three mile chaser in the making in time. She should have enough talent to see off Magical Field who was a beaten favourite at Doncaster after racing too keenly. A stayer on the Flat, she will be seen to better effect over further than two miles. Doce Vida comes from a yard housing plenty of hurdling talent this season and is sure to have been well schooled for her timber debut. The market should be closely watched for more clues, but on the evidence so far, Druids Confederacy is the form pick.
