Verdict

As with the first race, the weather has got a lot to do with the number of entries but this is not as daunting as it looks on paper. Therefore Ottoman, who appreciated the ease into this grade last time, is fancied to continue on his upwards curve; despite the burden of top weight. Vincento and the seemingly back-to-form Shaffishayes along with Pardon What make up the main body of the opposition and are worth considering if there are positive moves for any. Although the same comments also apply to Dene View, who is better than his recent profile suggests and he could go well at a fair price. However, Richard Guest, who is always selective when entering his runners, would not be sending Ottoman out if he didn't think the gelding was capable of giving weight away all round at this level, and the son of Grand Lodge has another chance to chip away at the expenses his connections shelled out to bring him over here from Australia. Most of the remainder are probably best watched today including: Wally Wonder, who will need to improve out of all recognition to get the better of his stablemate, Ottoman, this afternoon.
