In depth
Verdict
Garruth is the one that they have to beat, with Springford the one to make a race of it with him. Richard Barber's charge lines up on the back of a sterling effort in the Land Rover Final at Cheltenham nine days ago and a similar effort will be enough to beat this opposition. His last visit here was an unhappy one as he lost his weight cloth and was disqualified after finishing second. Springford will probably perform well enough without being good enough based on recent efforts. The former Henrietta Knight inmate was not helped by a loose horse when second at Taunton last time but that form is not good enough to trouble the selection. None of the others make any appeal whatsoever, including Polly Gundry's mount Phar From Chance who has been in action between the flags, and this should be a simple task for Garruth.
