Verdict
Kelrev managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on his reappearance at Towcester a fortnight ago but he should gain compensation at the expense of Sharmy and Leaburn. He had his rivals toiling in behind when unseating Richard Johnson at the last fence and with the handicapper not saddling him with any rise in the weights for the promise that he showed, he very much looks the one that they all have to beat. Sharmy was reportedly set to aim for a decent contest at Kempton but sights look to have been somewhat lowered. He is a decent sort who will be winning races but a concession of 7lb to the Williams horse may just be beyond him. Leaburn emptied out quickly after showing well on reappearance. He still has a lot of weight to carry on what he achieved prior to that layoff. Castle Prince ran a stinker when favourite here last time out and is capable of better. The Hodges pair should be watched for any signs of encouragement in the betting. Janiture actually beat Castle Prince on a previous meeting at the course but is another who needs to bounce back from a modest run. Kelrev could be anything and we will not oppose.
