In depth

Verdict

A competitive opener with a number of lightly raced and potentially well handicapped juveniles in opposition. With the going forecast as good to firm, a high draw could prove an advantage so the in-form Langford, along with Easy Rider and Kindness to a lesser extent, may struggle from a low berth in a field this size. Trumpton has not been overfaced in maidens and is likely to appreciate the step up in trip so should go well off a lenient mark on his handicap debut while Makulu is also likely to step up on previous efforts having been outpaced over shorter in useful maiden company. However, a tentative TEAMtalk vote goes to Princess Shoka who was out of her depth in a Haydock conditions event last time but had previously shown plenty of ability when a staying-on second behind stablemate Captain Saif over 7f at Lingfield in August. The winner has boosted the form since so Richard Hannon's filly is entitled to be thereabouts if repeating the form.
