Verdict

Mark Johnston's string are in the rudest of health, and his fine form can continue here with the lightly raced CLIENTELE, who we prefer to Wannabe King and Northern Spy. Clientele is having only his third run, with this his handicap debut after a straightforward, front-running success at Pontefract last time out. The drop to a mile suited then, and with this not having as tough a run-in, a similar display, albeit at a higher level, may see a repeat result. He's the yard's only runner on the card, and they'll want to recoup the cost of the diesel. He gains weight from all bar Northern Spy, being ten pounds better off than Sir Mark Prescott's Farleigh House, who's having his first run for almost a year after returning from a spell in The States. Northern Spy ended a 15 race losing run to triumph at Epsom last time out in a similar race. He's gone up 9 pounds for that, but is still at the right end of the weights for this contest. Wannabe King is fairly lightly raced, with this just his sixth outing since winning a maiden a year ago. A decent second last time out, he's capable of winning at this sort of level, and has a positive high draw. The bottom two are the pair with most appeal though, with decent, recent form having won last time out, but preference is for Clientele.
