Verdict

Yarmouth winner Lorna Dune seemed not to stay 1m2f at Nottingham last time and may do better back over a mile and has to be respected but preference is for Pennestamp, who gets the vote over Lateral Thinker. The last mentioned has failed to trouble the judge since scoring in a Lingfield nursery in July but the stable of Jamie Osborne has been back among the winners of late and she cannot be ruled out with any confidence. Osborne is also responsible for the newcomer Raven and while the daughter of Alzao would not need to be out of the ordinary to take a hand first time out it is slightly worrying that she tackles the lowest grade on her debut. David Elsworth's Missie Baileys takes a drop in class after three runs in maidens and is interesting along with Beverley selling winner Pon My Soul but the vote goes to Pennestamp. Nerys Dutfield's colt has yet to tackle beyond six furlongs but his style of racing and pedigree suggests that there could be improvement to come for the longer trip today. He looks worth a bet in a moderate contest.
