In depth

Verdict

Danawi showed signs of ability on his debut at Lingfield last month and Richard Hannon's colt has to be of interest on his second start from a decent draw but Johnny Alpha takes a massive drop in class and gets the vote over Namid Reprobate. The last mentioned stepped up on his debut effort when a two-length fifth behind Ochre Bay at Nottingham earlier this month and he has to be respected given the likelihood of further improvement. Berti Bertolini showed signs of ability on his all-weather debut and could be of interest first time on turf, while Mull of Dubai is becoming exposed. Primo Gold is an interesting newcomer from the yard of Walter Swinburn and makes appeal on pedigree but the stable is hardly known for their success with juveniles first time out and a safer bet looks to be Johnny Alpha, who ran promisingly on his first start before being outclassed in the Middle Park last time. This represents a huge drop in class and the fact that Peter Chapple-Hyam thought him good enough to run at headquarters is a tip in itself.
