Verdict
Victor Dartnell's Karanja did all that was asked of him when making a winning debut at Sandown but that did not look to be the strongest of races and he looks worth taking on under a penalty which we do with Matelot, who is taken to reverse Newbury form with Snakebite. The selection was caught for toe in a slowly run race at the Berkshire venue on his debut but with the ground bringing stamina into play, regardless of the pace, Francois Doumen's gelding looks worth supporting in a competitive finale. Alan King's Sea The Light finished in front of Henry's Pride in the race won by Oscar Park over course and distance last month and there should not be much between the two of them again, while both Banaluso and Grande Creole are entitled to strip fitter for their run behind Earth Man at Newton Abbot recently. The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Star Double and Jonjo O'Neill's Ten Pressed Men are others to consider but Francois Doumen does well with his runners in Britain and is taken to plunder another prize, this time with Matelot.
