In depth
Verdict
A large field of juvenile maidens makes this a nightmare start for punters but the experience of Pastoral Pursuits may tell against some highly thought of rivals including Danish Monarch, Old Malt and St Regs. The latter pair both hail from the yard of Richard Hannon who enjoys plenty of success at the Berkshire venue, and the market may hint at which is preferred. John Dunlop's inmates generally come on for the run so whatever Danish Monarch does here will be a bonus, while Henry Candy, enjoying something of a rennaisance these days, saddles both Sonderborg and Shielaligh. It would be nice to think that the likeable trainer has yet another flying machine to emulate Kyllachy and Airwave. On this occasion though, we side with Pastoral Pursuits who overcame a tricky draw to chase home Privy Seal over the course and distance a fortnight ago. Speedily bred, the son of Bahamian Bounty comes from an in-form stable, is much better drawn in stall 18 and is the pick to go one better in what could be an informative affair.
