In depth

Verdict

A poor small field maiden that should really only concern SILK GALLERY and Welsh Opera and the former can finally break her duck. Eric Alston's filly has clearly had some problems in the past but she ran with credit on both her last two starts when runner up at Southwell. This is her first try on the Polytrack, so clearly she has to prove she handles it, but given that this is the slowest version of that particular surface there are grounds for optimism. The trip should be no problem and if she can dictate and not allow it to become tactical she can win. Welsh Opera looks next best but has now had plenty more chances than the selection and is fully exposed, though she can at least give the favourite something to think about. Pipers Piping is interesting given he represents a yard in flying form and he has the potential to improve plenty for a quiet Lingfield debut. The main concern with him is the drop back in trip. Here Comes Danny will be of more interest in handicaps and Silk Gallery can get it right today.
