Verdict

Stormy Day can give weight away all round to to score at the expense of Smoothie, Uncle John and Traveller's Tale. Despite being a four-year-old, Stormy Day has not had much mileage, having had just the four career outings so far. The daughter of Rainbow Quest came good in style at Lingfield recently, coming from last to first to win going away, the fitting of an eyeshield no doubt contributing to her remarkable performance. She left Uncle John for dead and even on these terms will be fancied to follow up. Smoothie won this race last year but the way that he was also left trailing in the wake of Amanda Perrett's inmate last time suggests that he will find it very tough to follow up. Of the rest, Traveller's Tale will be staying on but he will be of more interest if sent over hurdles in due course, and we have no hesitation in nominating Stormy Day as the selection.
