Verdict
Holbeck Ghyll can land the finale at the expense of Saxon Lil and David Loder's newcomer Yo Pedro. The latter could be anything given his stable's record with this type on the all-weather, and if the market speaks in his favour then take notice. However, based on public form, Holbek Ghyll may prove good enough. Andrew Balding's colt has been absent since finishing third at Carlisle in June, but he was though good enough to contest the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier, and although down the field behind Blue Dakota earlier, still should have too much class on his return. Saxon Lil cannot boast the same level of form but she has track experience, having finished fourth of 12 here on the last day of the year. In addition she gets the sex allowance so can give the selection most to do. Holbeck Ghyll it is though who sets the standard and if anywhere near fit, then the son of Titus Livius should oblige
