In depth

Verdict

KILT ROCK can make good use of the one box and land the spoils from Jimmy The Poacher and Russian Davis. The selection narrowly failed to land a touch on his nursery bow over six furlongs at this track but he made no mistake at Kempton when again heavily supported. He still looks well treated under his penalty and can find further improvement for this longer trip. The likes of Rockweiller, Royal Holiday, Rigid and Be A Devil may prove capable of better now handicapping but there are some runners in this line-up with pretty solid claims. Ginger Grey has performed consistently and made the frame on his only previous all-weather start whilst Pat Seamur went close over course and distance from this mark. Russian Davis is another with course and distance form to his name and he was a shade unfortunate not to have finished closer and looks on an upward curve. Jimmy The Poacher was well held on his only run in a nursery but that came in a very competitive race at York and there are grounds for thinking that he's quite well handicapped so he could be one for the each-way money with the selection, Kilt Rock, likely to be sent off at cramped odds.
