In depth

Verdict

Mercurious gets a narrow vote over My Legal Eagle, with Prince of The Wood and Unleaded others to consider. Mercurious appreciated the step up to two miles when opening his account on what was only her second visit here in April, having the opposition well strung out at the finish. She disappointed when put back on turf at Warwick last time, but should appreciate the return to the fibresand today. My Legal Eagle has won both over hurdles and on the level and will be a tough rival. He only has the one pace and will appreciate being back up in trip here. Prince of The Wood returned from a break to run his best race yet at Lingfield three weeks ago. Beaten a short-head by Fletcher on that occasion, the slower conditions here might count against him. Unleaded was successful over the course and distance in January but has a lot to find with Mercurious recent running, and it is the latter that we look to as the answer in a fairly open event.
