In depth

Verdict

Barzak, Bundaberg and Risk Free look the three to concentrate on in this amateur rider¿ handicap and the vote is given to Barzak. The selection won well last time on this track even though the trip looked like it might be a bit on the sharp side for him. He got the pace he needed in that race, but he is sure to be suited by this step up in distance and now that he has at last found his best form, he looks worth following to go in again on a surface that clearly suits. Bundaberg would have claims here on the pick of his form, but he has been a little disappointing of late, and although he has form on this surface he is hard to put forward with any confidence. Risk Free is a consistent sort and if he can reproduce his latest effort here when beaten a neck by Super Dominion, then he would have a strong chance. However, he is proving difficult to win and on that basis he is narrowly passed over. Midshipman is from a shrewd yard and is another to consider, but for the winner we return to Barzak who goes well here and has a positive jockey booking.
